Linzi: The Alto, Jacobi de Villiers…in all the Messiah’s I’ve ever sung, she’s the strongest Alto. It’s very difficult to get a powerful voice in those lower registers and she really “klaps” it [nails it]!
Alex: ...and it’s not just powerful, it’s flexible as well. Remember, we’re doing Baroque music, so it can’t be too heavy and Wagnerian, but she manages to bring that power, stature and flexibility with her….We did Elijah earlier this year and it was an absolute hit!

TISBE (La Cenerentola – 2017)
As the “ugly sisters”, Kgatle and De Villiers made an amusing pair, the latter – in particular – demonstrating neat comic timing.

The ugly sisters, Ipeleng Kgatle as Clorinda and Jacobi de Villiers as Tisbe, were a hilarious duo.
Tisbe, La Cenerentola: Rudolph Mare, Untamed Classics
Comedy reigns with the appearance of Cinderella’s step-sisters in eye-offending pyjamas. Ipeleng Kgatle (Clordina) and Jacobi de Villiers (Tisbe) join forces to offer a duet in which mezzo and soprano complement one another with fluent sweetness.

OTHER
Bizet’s Habanera was suitably coquettish as Jacobi de Villiers toyed with her suitors and her combining with Steyn in the duet from Delibes’ Lakmé was beautiful
